Kevin Barry

Kevin M. Barry is a PhD candidate in Sociology at Northwestern University. His research focuses on the experiences of young people who participate in a gun violence prevention program in the city of Chicago. Specifically, he is working to understand how trust is built between participants and staff and how the design of the educational environment plays a role. He is also researching the roles of police and street violence in the lives of program participants and how this relates to trust. Kevin has a MA in Sociology from Northwestern University, a MS in School Psychology from Tulane University, and a BS in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Kevin is also a father of three and an Army veteran who served as an Infantry Officer.
