The Innovation Postdoc-in-Residence program at New York University aims to attract brilliant scholars from diverse fields of research who are committed to translating academic discoveries into entrepreneurial and real-world solutions. The program provides mentorship, professional development, an employer-hosting agreement, and industry challenges, preparing participants for industry positions.
Over two years, Postdoc Associates will spend the first year in New York City at NYU, engaging in research, developing entrepreneurship skills, and working on Innovation Projects with faculty and professionals aligned with their dissertations. The second-year Postdoc Associates will relocate to NYU Tulsa, where they will be placed with an industry host and apply their research skills in real-world contexts, emphasizing innovation and bringing their academic discoveries to life through content-specific research and development experiments.
Program Structure
The Innovation Postdoc-in-Residence program offers:
- Two-year Immersion: Year 1 at NYU New York focuses on product research, entrepreneurship training, professional development, and self-driven innovation projects with identified NYU faculty for interdisciplinary collaboration. In Year 2, Postdoc Associates will transition to NYU Tulsa, where they will be placed with an industry host and contribute to business problems by applying research to industry challenges.
- Mentorship: Postdoctoral Associates will meet with mentors to guide their professional growth, foster interdisciplinary partnerships, and create pathways to industry knowledge and success.
- Industry Integration: Participate in hands-on projects that challenge Postdoc Associates to apply their research to practice, translating scholarly activities into marketable innovations that address societal and business needs.
- George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF) is a partner in this program and includes the InTulsa Visa Network for relocation and community integration support.
