Amira Nash is pursuing a PhD in Teaching and Learning in the Literacy, Culture, and Language Education program at the University of Iowa. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, educational policy, educational equity related to US Black Language, and Black students identified as English Learners. Amira is also the associate director of School Partnerships and Global Education Initiatives at the University of Iowa College of Education. Prior to this role, Amira taught high school social studies and students identified as English Language Learners (ELL) for four years. She earned both her BA in Psychology and MA in Teaching, Leadership and Cultural Competency from the University of Iowa.
