Chelsie Burchett is a postdoctoral scholar in the Psychology department at Stanford University. She received her PhD in Social & Health Psychology from Stony Brook University in May 2024. Her research evaluates the barriers to academic and career success for historically marginalized populations. Specifically, she investigates how a low sense of belonging to one’s institution, department or field can adversely impact academic and career outcomes, as well as the ways in which institutions can recruit and retain diverse populations. Chelsie holds a BA in psychology with a minor in women’s and gender studies from Pace University in New York City. She has also earned two MA degrees, her first from The Graduate Center, CUNY in Liberal Studies, and her second from Stony Brook University in Psychology, with an advanced certificate in Quantitative methods. Chelsie is also the recipient of the PRISM Baker Fellowship at Stanford University, a fellowship aimed at supporting those from underrepresented identity groups to pursue postdoctoral training at Stanford University. In her spare time, Chelsie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and exercising.
