Josh Opoku Brew is a PhD candidate in Music and Africana Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and a predoctoral fellow at the Woodson Institute for African American and African Studies at the University of Virginia. His dissertation, Gifts from Nature, is at the intersection of music and ecological Sustainability. His research areas includes—Black Stuides, Sound Studies, Popular Music Fandom, Sustainability, and Economic anthropology/ethnomusicology. Josh is also a musician, composer, and performer.
