Sakaria Auelua-Toomey

Sakaria Laisene Auelua-Toomey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Before starting his professorship, Sai went to the Honolulu Community College to earn his AA in Liberal Arts, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa to earn his BA in Psychology and Communicology, and finally to Stanford University to earn his PhD in Psychology. Sai runs the Resist, Identify, and Dismantle (RID) lab where they integrate a range of methods (e.g., surveys, field experiments, archival analyses, natural language processing) and diverse perspectives to examine the ways in which structural mechanisms interact with psychology to maintain and reinforce racism and colonization in a variety of domains.
