Bianca D. Rivera is a current candidate for a Doctorate in Public Health in Epidemiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She received a Master’s of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the same institution. Her Bachelor’s is in Comparative Religion, with minors in Human Rights and Economics through the Thomas Hunter Honors Program at CUNY Hunter College. Bianca has collaborated on various multidisciplinary studies in the fields of occupational, environmental, social, and cardiovascular epidemiology, using a variety of methodological approaches. She has published in The Ethnographic Edge and New Solutions: A Journal of Environmental and Occupational Health Policy, and has presented at conferences such as The American Health Public Association, Urban Affairs Association, Know Her Truths: Advancing Just for Women & Girls of Color, and the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry. As a budding independent scholar, her work will focus on inequities and barriers to evidence- based substance use treatment, with future implications for targeted interventions and emergency response in this vulnerable population.
