Darrell Hooker is a PhD student in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Houston; he holds a BA in political science and M.Ed. in educational administration. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, he was a high school social studies teacher for four years. His research agenda broadly focuses on understanding gaps that exist between K-12 education and postsecondary education, and on reconceptualizing systematized education in the United States as a continuum from pre-K through postsecondary learning as opposed to discrete systems of K-12 and higher education. More specifically, Darrell’s research focuses on understanding how high school level characteristics can work to affect student outcomes in their early post-secondary careers.
