Theodore Harrison III is a 5th-year Media Studies PhD student in the School Journalism and Communication (SoJC) at the University of Oregon. His academic studies are centered at the intersection of “Communication Studies,” “New Media” and “Public Policy.” Theodore earned his BA and MA in Communication Studies at California State University, Sacramento. His research interest have a foci on hashtag activism, which allows collective identities the ability to scale messages and connections across time and space in a way that was not previously possible with traditional forms of media. This includes the emergence of “Algorithmic Trust” built with trust less peer to peer networks that gave rise to a widespread adoption of Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Cybersecurity. As a technical complement to his academic skill set, Theodore completed a custom certificate in Project Management, Business Analysis and Web Design from the University of California, Davis.
